It’s time for the accounting. I pledged to give part of all of my sales from my Studio Sale & Fund Raiser to Gather. I’ve checked and rechecked my numbers and come up with just under $800 set aside for Gather. Although I sold pieces from all categories, including matted pieces and cards, the bulk of the sales in terms of both quantity and value was from the “You Pick. You Decide” wall. That was a variation on “pay what you want” pricing. I set up about a dozen paintings on the wall of my studio with a goal or raising money for Gather and moving paintings out of my space and into their forever home. The instructions were to pick the piece you want and decide what you want to pay (over a small minimum) and I donate 100% of my proceeds from these sales.

I’m terribly excited by the amount of money that we’ve raised for Gather and also for the number of favorite paintings which have finally found their “forever” homes. I’ve rearranged my “You Pick. You Decide” wall several times. It’s also fun selling out of my own space. I don’t usually get a chance to see who’s buying my work.

Here are a few of the pieces that have found their “forever” homes. A big thank you to all the people who came out to support this worthy cause.

“Landscape Tapestry in Blues” – watercolor – approx 15″ x 11″ – Matted & Framed to 20″ x 16″ – Gold Metal Frame

With only two days left until the end of the month and the end of my Studio Sale & Fundraiser for Gather, there are lovely paintings still on the wall. To give you a closer look before you come in to buy, I’ve been highlighting a few of the individual paintings.

“Landscape Tapestry in Blues” is an old favorite that has often hung out on my studio wall. One of the things I love about this painting is the color scheme, the rich blues and reds. I also love the more gestural feel to the paint. I’m hoping someone else will love this as much as I do.

Although my sale runs through the end of the month, the gallery isn’t officially open on Monday & Tuesday. Please email or call to set up an appointment.

During this Studio Sale, I’m donating a portion of each sale to Gather to fight hunger in the Seacoast. If you’re not familiar with Gather, check out their website. They are doing amazing work. Lane House Arts Center is collecting food and cash donations for them through December 20th.

This is another old favorite. I love the fall colors and the “painting within a painting” aspect of this piece. It makes me think of those lovely fall days with crisp air and gorgeous leaves. It’s another piece just makes me feel good. If this looks like it might be the painting for you, come on in, take a look, and maybe take it home.

“Bands of Color #32″ – Mixed Media Collage on Mat Board – 7″ x 5″ – Matted & Framed to 14″ x 11” – Black Wooden Frame

With less than a week left in my Studio Sale & Fundraiser for Gather, there are lots of lovely paintings still on the wall, including some of my favorites. To give you a closer look before you come in to buy, I’m highlighting a few of the individual paintings.

This is one of a series of small collages that remind me of the landscape. They are more evocative than representational. I think that’s part of the charm. If this appeals to you, come on in and check it out.

Ethel Hills - "Rhapsody" - Mixed Media Collage on Panel - 20" x 20"
Ethel Hills – “Rhapsody” – Mixed Media Collage on Panel – 20″ x 20″

With about a week and a half left in my Studio Sale & Fundraiser for Gather, there are lots of lovely paintings still on the wall. To give you a closer look before you come in to buy, I’m highlighting a few of the individual paintings.

This is an old favorite. The warm colors make me think of a sunrise and the horizontals make me think of the salt marsh. It has an overall feeling of hope and joy, which is inspirational for me. It makes me feel good every time I look at it. I hope it will bring a smile to someone else’s face.

It’s been on my studio wall almost since I moved into my space at Lane House Arts Center. Although I love being inspired by it everyday, I would really love for it to find it’s “forever home”.
